NLC and NLC Lite-The Hub and Spoke Model

Next Education has ambitious plans for the NLC initiative. Starting with 3 centres in 2011, we expect to expand a NLC in every city , accompanied by 6-10 franchisees or NLC Lite as we call them, growing in a hub and spoke model. Over the next 3 years (by 2014), we expect to have 25 of our own NLCs supported by about 300 franchisees spanning across India.

Every NLC main that forms the hub of a wheel, will be staffed by teachers trained at Next Education, in the latest tools and technologies for education. Each NLC main will offer:

  • Mi Class
  • Coaching for IIT and AIEEE
  • iTeach

Besides these programmes, NLCs will offer some special programmes for teachers:

  • Long term diploma programme for fresh B.ED teachers: the focus of these programmes will be on teaching pedagogy and digital content/technology usage in daily life.
  • Certification courses for experienced teachers: these courses will help them fill any gaps in their competency with digital technologies, content design/creation, etc., bringing them up to speed with 21st century methodologies for teaching.

Each NLC main hub will be surrounded by NLC Lite centres forming the spokes of the wheel. envisions that each NLC Lite will service an area up to a radius of three kilometres in its neighbourhood.. An NLC Lite will offer:

  • Mi Class
  • Coaching for IIT
  • Coaching for AIEEE/PMT

Next Education will support each NLC Lite with the infrastructure and content. Next Education will also shortlist prospective teachers, train and certify them through the iTeach programme at the hubs, that is, NLCs.

A panel of renowned teachers who are experts in their fields will be set up by Next Education. The participants of programmes at all centres will benefit from lectures by members of this panel which will be telecast across NLCs from time to time, using video conferencing and teleconferencing facilities.
